MARAS: Maras is 3300 masl, located 45 km to northwest of Cuzco and a population of 7000 inhabitants; from there you can see the snowy peaks of Urubamba, Veronica 5682m and Chikon 5530m. Its occupation began when the Incas from Cuzco were stripped of their palaces of Cuzco and had to leave to settle in other small towns as Maras. It also has a church built with adobe bricks on stone base typical of Spanish religious architecture, inside of the church are saved paintings of the Cusco School and a cross carved in granite. Many of the houses take on their lintels coats of arms of the Spanish nobility carved in stone, as this makes known the importance gained by the people in colonial times.
SALT MINES OF MARAS: located northwest of the town of Maras consist of about 3000 small wells each with an average area of about 5m, during the dry season people fill or flood them every 3 days with salt water that comes from a natural spring located on the top of the hill, and when it evaporates becomes solidified salt, this process takes about a month to reach a volume of 10 cm in height, then salt is hit and milled, then be bagged in plastic sacks and sent to the regional markets for consumption, because the salt is iodized and is not harmful for human consumption.
MORAY: It is located 38 km northwest of Cusco in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, which is the an archaeological group unique in Peru, these giant natural depressions or holes on the ground surface were used to build agricultural terraces with their irrigation canals. Most striking is the annual temperature difference between the top and bottom of the platforms that reaches a difference of 15 ° C (59 ° F) because the building is a prototype greenhouse or experimental biological station quite advanced for its time , as this served as domestication, acclimatization and hybridization of species native to the region that have adapted to the site, it helped to adapt ancient American man and domesticate species 60% of vegetables consumed today and more than 3000 varieties includes potatoes, quinoa, a hundred and fifty types of corn, and many other products. There are standing stones on the terraces probably served to mark the shadows of the rocks and get to know the time of sowing and harvesting, solstice and equinox. According some studies maybe there are underground causes which would disembogue after irrigating the terraces, as there are many enigmas about these Inca buildings.
