TIPON: Ancient Inca town located 23 km away on the route Cusco to Puno, which is 3560 masl, this architectural building could be the residence of Inca Yahuar Huaca where was built terraces that currently people cultivate potatoes, corn, quinua and barley, the irrigation system that is still used by the people with their channels carved in stone which is a masterpiece of hydraulic engineering. Because of its location Tipon had to be a very unique compared to other places in Cusco.
PIQUILLACTA: It is located 32 km away on the route Cusco to Puno where is located a large urban center for the Wari Empire (750-1100 AC) all would indicate that at the beginning of the Inca empire the Waris would have been conquered by the Incas. Currently the archaeological complex of Piquillacta shows more than 700 buildings, as 200 canchas (stone walls in a square shape) and 504 colcas (food stores), houses and streets, by some estimates about 10,000 people would have lived. Its buildings had 2 and 3 floors with high walls built of stone and clay (unhewn stones), according to some studies in the 90’s walls were covered with mud up to 9cm thick and coated with plaster, the floors also constructed with plaster, showing that in the year 750 AC Piquillacta was a white city. Near the archaeological complex is located Huacarpay lagoon with many birds.
ANDAHUAYLILLAS: Typical Andean village from colonial time of singular origin and unique architecture located 40 km away from the Cusco on the Vilcanota river. In andahuaylillas stand out its Catholic church from the colonial time with a beautiful decoration and murals from XVII and XVIII century known as the Sistine Chapel of America, the quality of the artwork found inside. This church was built on an Inca construction by the Jesuits in the XVI century, with walls of adobe and stone columns. Inside of the church left side is the inscription I baptize you in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit Amen, most interesting is that such registration is written in 5 languages like Latin, Quechua, Aimara, uro puquina and Castilian (uro puquina extinct). Then a return trip to Cusco.
